About the CHEO School Authority
CHEO School, located in the Children’s Treatment Centre, is funded by the Ministry of Education and follows operational guidelines as defined in the Ontario Education Act. The school is governed by the CHEO School Authority Board of Trustees. All CHEO School staff including classroom teachers, educational assistants, office administrator and principal are seconded in a purchase of service agreement from the local school boards. All staff have a background in special education and are qualified to teach primary/junior students. Teachers are licensed by the Ontario College of Teachers and therapists are licensed in accordance with their respective colleges.
Meetings of the CHEO School Authority (CHEO-SA) are held quarterly. CHEO School Authority Trustees are appointed by the Minister of Education for terms of office. They are not elected officials. The Chairperson of the CHEO School Authority Board is currently M. Benoit Laberge. Inquiries regarding the CHEO-SA can be directed to the school Principal.
