About telemedicine
CHEO relies on telemedicine to provide clinical appointments when appropriate. Using videoconferencing technology in conjunction with medical instruments such as electronic stethoscopes and specialized cameras allows health care providers to perform remote patient examinations and manage follow-up care at a distance.
How to make an appointment
Not all referrals are suitable for a telemedicine consultation and patients may be asked to present to the hospital for their appointment. To obtain additional information, please contact Nancy Majkowski, Telemedicine Coordinator at (613) 737-7600 ext 2084, or via email at NMajkowski@cheo.on.ca.
About Tele-Mental Health Service
The Tele-Mental Health Service is provided in collaboration by CHEO, Sick Kids and CPRI. It provides clinical, program and educational services provided by child & youth psychiatrists. This service is for remote communities that do not have access to psychiatry and the consultations are done via videoconferencing through OTN. A mental health clinician makes the referral and assists the family at the consultation. You can find the referral package on SickKids website.
