Construction at CHEO: plan ahead!
We're expanding with the new Integrated Treatment Centre, including a larger parking garage and a tunnel connecting buildings.
The main entrance will remain open, but pedestrian and vehicle routes (including OC Transpo buses) may change during construction.
Please allow extra time for parking and navigating the campus—signs will guide you!
How are you getting to CHEO?
Car Ongoing construction and parking impacts
CHEO has two parking lots for families and visitors to use. Families are welcome to park in lot "A" located beside the hospital, adjacent to the Garry Cardiff Wing entrance and lot "B" located across from the main building entrance. Some parking will be disrupted at various phases of the project and clearly marked with signage.
CHEO’s Parking and Security team is only the press of a button away – use the button on the parking gates to contact our team if you need support finding or accessing parking when you arrive.
Accessible parking
Accessible Parking is available at the main entrance in the Pay and Display area near the main entrance. No payment required for accessible parking permit holders in the pay and display spot. Bus There are temporary bus stops along Ring Road to use when coming to/leaving CHEO. Please visit OC Transpo's website for latest details and to find maps!

Walking and cycling Several bicycle racks are available around the CHEO campus, including at:
- Lot A near the pay and display parking spots (this is currently the closest bike rack to the main entrance)
- the Children’s Treatment Centre link entrance
- the CHEO Research entrance

Getting to CHEO
By bus |
OC Transpo OC Transpo buses run across Ottawa. Visit their website to plan your trip, find out about what routes are available and more. There are currently two routes that stop in front of CHEO's main campus: route 45 and route 55. Both busses come regularly throughout the day. You can also call OC Transpo's information line at 613-741-4390 for schedule details. Ontario Northland Ontario Northland offers motor coach transportation from Sault Ste. Marie, Sudbury and North Bay to Ottawa. Passengers now have the option to be dropped off at two OC Transpo bus stops near CHEO and The Ottawa Hospital. Busses arrive at CHEO in the evening, and depart for Sault Ste Marie, Sudbury and North Bay in the morning. Their motor coaches can accommodate most wheeled mobility devices and many have an elevator platform for passengers with reduced mobility or those in a wheelchair. By car |
CHEO's main campus is near most major roads/highways in the National Capital Region. It is approximately a 10-minute drive from downtown Ottawa and a 20-minute drive from the airport. There are children's hospital signs along most major roads that will lead you to CHEO. |
By taxi |
You can call a taxi from anywhere in Ottawa and ask to go to CHEO. From downtown Ottawa, a taxi will cost approximately $15 to reach our main campus. When you're leaving 401 Smyth Road, keep an eye out for our taxi phones located by our main entrance as well as at the Garry Cardiff and Max Keeping Wing entrances. These phones directly call a local taxi service for you. |

About the Aline-Chrétien Health Hub We are committed to bringing the high-quality care you expect from CHEO closer to home, making it easier to access the health services you and your family need. The Aline-Chrétien Health Hub (ACHH) in Orleans first opened its doors in 2021 to offer holistic, family-centered services for the entire family – from newborns to seniors. Starting in November 2024, CHEO will join other partner health organizations and offer several services closer to home for children, youth and families in Orleans through the Aline-Chrétien Health Hub (ACHH). What services are offered at the Aline-Chrétien Health Hub? Several CHEO clinics, services and programs offer services through the ACHH for children and youth aged 0-17, in addition to the care they continue provide at CHEO’s main campus and other existing community locations:
How to access CHEO services through the Aline-Chrétien Health Hub For existing CHEO patients and clients: If you are receiving care through one of the programs above, talk to your care team about whether it is possible to schedule your next appointment(s) at the Aline-Chrétien Health Hub. For children, youth and families not already receiving care through CHEO: Follow the usual referral process for the clinic, service or program you are looking to be referred to - click the links above to learn more about each service! When it is time to book your first appointment, talk with the intake worker/your care team to ask if it is possible to schedule your next appointment(s) at the Aline-Chrétien Health Hub.
