If your child has been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), you may have a lot of questions and new emotions. Getting to know neurodiversity can be overwhelming, but it is important to remember that we are here for you. At CHEO, we provide many resources and support services to help children, youth, and families navigate this journey.

Flu and COVID vaccines: Extensive Needs supported visits
Extensive Needs supported visits help children with neurodevelopmental exceptionalities and challenging behaviour access flu and COVID vaccine appointments. We offer both pre-appointment practice and day-of support.

Social ABCs
Social ABCs is an exciting way for young children with autism to develop their communication and social skills in a natural way.
Offered in Ottawa, Prescott-Russell, Renfrew, and SDG
Our Services
Early Intervention program for children 12-42 months old. This service helps children with ASD develop communication and social skills.
Workshops and brief, consultative services covering a wide range of ASD-related topics and commonly experienced challenges.
Brief consultative services that helps children and youth (of any age) become more comfortable and confident in school environments.
12-week support for families experiencing recent escalation of high-risk behaviours.
Getting Diagnosed
CHEO’s Diagnostic Assessment Team provides diagnosis and assessment services for children and youth with skill development challenges. Through our process you will learn more about your child's developmental strengths and needs in areas such as: speech and language, motor skills, play, social skills, behaviour, and early learning.
Daniel at the Dentist
Going to the dentist can be a scary experience. The loud sounds, bright overhead lights, unfamiliar smells and strange instruments are enough to make anyone feel uncomfortable, let alone a child with autism. At CHEO we are here to help.
