Meet Chloe Soleimani, Service Planning Coordinator with Urgent Response Services
In February 2010, Chloe Soleimani took her first walk through CHEO’s pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) as she prepared to begin a new job as a clerk in the unit.
That day, and that role, changed her life.
“I wouldn’t be where I am today,” said Soleimani, who spent 10 years working in the PICU.
Her connection with CHEO doesn’t begin there. Soleimani arrived in Canada from Iran with her family in 1991 and she soon learned of CHEO while receiving care for childhood asthma.
As a teenager, Soleimani realized it was her dream to work at CHEO. She would graduate from Carleton University with a psychology degree, which is when she joined the PICU as a clerk.
That’s where she learned the value of teamwork as staff lean on one another while helping families who experience one of their most difficult chapters.
Soleimani was also closely supported by her PICU colleagues on her pregnancy journey before she had twins. Soon after, her own experience with a sick child in the Emergency Department (E.D.) had a major impact on her.
“For the first time in my life, I understood every family,” she said. “Everyone was so good to me and my child. That really got to show me the other side of it.”
Soleimani was motivated to work the odd shift or two asa Patient Experience lead in the E.D., on top of becoming a CHEO family resource worker, first with the Social Work department and then with Development & Rehab.
She now works as a service planning coordinator with Urgent Response Services, which helps children and youth living with autism.
As she helps children and families, she always tries to put herself in their shoes, aided by her experience in the PICU and E.D.
Soleimani is also working on her master's degree to become a psychotherapist.
“I’m so proud to say I work at CHEO. It’s like saying I work for Taylor Swift. No matter what my title is, I love being part of this amazing organization.”
CHEO is filled with kind and dedicated people like Chloe. Join us.
