Ottawa, Ontario, January 28, 2021 — CHEO, Ottawa’s pediatric health and research centre ranks second among Canadian hospitals on the Forbes list of Canada’s Best Employers for 2021.
The Canada’s Best Employers list includes 300 companies and organizations from the private sector, government services, finance, education, telecommunications, health care, and more.
Forbes and Statista selected the Canada’s Best Employers 2021 through an independent survey applied to a vast sample of more than 8,000 Canadian employees working for companies with more than 500 employees in Canada. The evaluation was based on direct and indirect recommendations from employees that were asked to rate their willingness to recommend their own employers to friends and family. Employee evaluations also included other employers in their respective industries that stood out either positively or negatively.
“When I think of what defines CHEO as a workplace, I think about our team rising to the challenge of a worldwide pandemic and adapting to ensure that patients and families continued to receive the care and services they needed,” said Alex Munter, President and CEO of CHEO. “I think of the staff and medical staff who did not hesitate in volunteering to be re-deployed to long-term care homes, COVID-19 testing centres and community vaccination teams. "
“Yes, our team pulls together in a crisis, but every day we are united behind our vision of providing the best life for every child and youth. That sense of purpose shapes our work culture and makes this a very meaningful place to work.”
In fact - come work with us! CHEO is currently recruiting nurses, psychologists and researchers.

CHEO has been named one of the National Capital Region’s Top Employers for 9 consecutive years as part of an annual competition organized by MediaCorp Canada Inc. CHEO has also been named one of Canada’s 10 Most Admired Corporate Cultures and recognized by Canada’s Healthy Workplace Month, among many other accolades for our medical and research professionals. The 2020 Faces Magazine recognized Alex Munter as a favourite CEO of the year.
