Meet Mackenzie Foulkes, Registered Nurse in our Ambulatory Care clinics
Ever since she was a little girl, Mackenzie knew she would one day work at CHEO – just like her mom. It was less a matter of what she wanted to be when she grew up, and more of where she wanted to be. Mackenzie spent her childhood visiting her mom at the hospital and recalls fond memories of CHEO – parent-career days, her mom’s office, and the wonderful community of nurses that surrounded her mom.
In 2016, Mackenzie graduated from her first nursing program and spent two years working with adults. Throughout that time, she knew CHEO was where she would ultimately land. “I love working with children,” shares Mackenzie, “They’re so honest, in the best way, and unbelievably resilient.” Two years later, Mackenzie walked in the doors of CHEO and, in 2021, worked her first shift with her mom in the Medical Day Unit (where patients come for oncology, hematology or dialysis treatments) – a true full circle moment for this mother and daughter.
While her mom has since retired, Mackenzie remains committed to the CHEO community and its future.
“Working at CHEO is community. The people here care about you and want you to succeed,” says Mackenzie, “We offer children and their families a big community that cares for them. We support the whole family and help them feel safe by making sure they have the very best experience at CHEO.”
CHEO is filled with hundreds of dedicated people like Mackenzie. Join us.
