November 7, 2024 - Ottawa - The City of Ottawa, Councillor Stéphanie Plante, CHEO, UNICEF, and partners would like to invite you to attend Ottawa’s first ever Children and Youth Summit.
The summit will take place on November 8th, 2024 from 11:00am to 4:00pm at Jean Pigott Hall - Ottawa City Hall, 110 Laurier Ave W, Ottawa, ON.
This unique forum will bring youth and children together to learn more about how the City functions, and to develop a network of people interested in Ottawa becoming a Child Friendly City (a United Nation’s initiative). The Summit connects youth in the city with one another and with city leaders to learn how we can advance Ottawa with the well-being of children and youth at the forefront.
Some City departments will be present, including: Ottawa Public Library, OC Transpo, Recreation Culture and Facility Services, Community Social Services Department, Strategic Initiatives, and Planning. There will also be a performance of the OrKidstra.
“Municipalities play a huge role in shaping children’s lives through the local services and spaces they provide. The wellbeing of children and youth is very important to me and the rest of city council. Our city needs to engage with youth so they have a meaningful say in, and truly benefit from, the local decisions, services and spaces that shape their lives.”
Stéphanie Plante, Councillor, Rideau - Vanier
“At CHEO, we believe that children and youth should always be active participants in their own care, decision making and determining what they need to achieve their best life. Their strength, resilience, wisdom, and creativity inspire us every day. We are proud to partner with the City of Ottawa and the Ottawa Child and Youth Summit to explore and enhance the opportunities available for our youth.”
Lindy Samson, President and CEO, (interim), CHEO.
