Ann is an accomplished leader with a proven track record of excellence and a profound commitment to cultivating the best talents. She comes from 21 years at the Canadian Red Cross Society where she held various roles, most recently as the Chief People Officer (CPO) and Corporate Secretary.
Ann worked her way up at the Red Cross, starting as a disaster volunteer and first aid instructor even before she was hired. In recent years, Ann was a leader during the pandemic as the Red Cross grew and changed, serving as a key voice on the organization’s executive team focused on well-being and the protection of front-line workers. She also helped modernize HR at the Red Cross to adapt to a changing workforce with a data-driven approach.
CHEO is focused on recruitment and Ann brings decades of experience in that field. She led the recruitment of volunteers during emergency responses for the 2013 floods in Calgary and the 2010 earthquake in Haiti. Ann is also the perfect person to lead as we continue to adjust to the Workday world after she oversaw the implementation of a new platform at the Red Cross.
As we continue to grow, our biggest priorities include recruitment, professional development, and retention of top-tier talent across all sectors. Ann will lead these initiatives and play a pivotal role in shaping our HR strategies to ensure we have a strong and vibrant workforce.
Ann was selected by a committee that included CHEO operational and medical leaders and representatives from our Board and families. We were all impressed by Ann’s energy, approach and clear values fit with Team CHEO.
