OTTAWA, Ontario, December 8 — Once again, CHEO has been recognized as a 2021 Canada’s Healthy Workplace Month® Great Employers. Presented by Excellence Canada, CHEO is among 11 Canadian organizations being celebrated for their planning and actions to foster physically and psychologically safe and healthy workplaces, striving to continually improve across four main areas of focus, namely: Physical health, social health, mental health and community.
“Our team – staff, medical staff, learners and volunteers alike – have faced and continue to face ongoing pressures throughout this relentless pandemic. We made wellness a priority early on and it’s wonderful to see those efforts recognized now,” said Alex Munter, President and CEO, CHEO. “Wellness remains a priority and there’s still more we want to do. All of our wellness initiatives are the result of clinicians and administrative staff across the organization who have stepped up to make a tangible difference for their colleagues. Today’s award is theirs and I am so proud of them all.”
CHEO has a multitude of wellness initiatives in place to support staff, medical staff and learners. These include our Employee Assistance Program, resources provided by our Occupational Health and Wellness department a new Peer Emotional Empowerment Program of Support (PEEPS), Fit and Well group, meditation sessions, a quiet lounge, spiritual support, a recognition program, lunch and learn, mindfulness program and a wellness committee, to name a few. CHEO’s fit and well group also organized a full agenda of activity to highlight Canada's Healthy Workplace Month this past October.
CHEO recently celebrated its sixth time on Forbes list of Canada’s Best Employers and a 10th consecutive year as one of the National Capital Region Top Employers, an annual competition organized by MediaCorp Canada Inc. CHEO has also been named one of Canada’s 10 Most Admired Corporate Cultures and recognized by Canada’s Healthy Workplace Month, among many other accolades for our medical and research professionals. The 2020 Faces Magazine recognized Alex Munter as a favourite CEO of the year.
CHEO is always looking for great people – in fact, come work for the best! CHEO is currently recruiting nurses, psychologists and researchers.
