February 2, 2021 (Ottawa, ON) – Today, CHEO celebrates our 10th consecutive year of being recognized by the editors of Canada's Top 100 Employers as a top employer in the National Capital Region.
"This continuing recognition is a real tribute to CHEO's community of 4,500 staff, medical staff, researchers, learners and volunteers, and their dedication to providing the best life for every child and youth we care for,” said Alex Munter, CHEO’s President and CEO. "Being named a top employer in a year where we had to face the enormous challenges of a worldwide pandemic is a reminder about just how deeply the work we do to help kids and families inspires us every day, no matter what is happening around us."
First published in 2006, the National Capital Region's Top Employers is an annual competition organized by the editors of Canada's Top 100 Employers. CHEO has made the list since 2012 by offering a supportive environment for staff and their families, and by providing competitive salaries, maternity and paternity leave top-up payments, and on-the-job learning and orientation sessions to help employees continuously learn and grow.
CHEO regularly surveys staff and medical staff, and uses the results and feedback to ensure CHEO is an engaging and rewarding place to work. Our latest survey results indicated 92% of CHEO team members felt they can make a positive impact at work and 91% are proud to tell others they work for CHEO.
In fact - come work with us! CHEO is currently recruiting nurses, psychologists and researchers.
Of 55 workplaces recognized in the National Capital Region this year, CHEO is one of only four health-care organizations to make the list.
“The passion of our staff makes CHEO’s mission of providing exceptional care for children and youth possible – whether that means adapting to an pandemic situation, participating in cutting-edge research to uncover new medical practices, or fundraising to purchase state of the art medical equipment. We’re continuously looking for solutions and adapting, so we can improve the lives of others,” added Munter.
In past years, CHEO has been recognized as Canada’s #1 health care employer by Forbes Canada Best Employers. CHEO has also been named one of Canada’s 10 Most Admired Corporate Cultures and recognized by Canada’s Healthy Workplace Month, among many other accolades for our medical and research professionals, The 2020 Faces Magazine recognized Alex Munter as a favourite CEO of the year.
