February 1, 2022 (Ottawa, ON) – Want to work for one of Ottawa’s best employers? Come join Team CHEO -- we have 300 vacant positions right now. You will learn first-hand why today, CHEO celebrates our 11th consecutive year of being recognized by the editors of Canada's Top 100 Employers as a top employer in the National Capital Region
“This continuing recognition is a real tribute to CHEO's community of 4,500 staff, medical staff, researchers, learners and volunteers, and their dedication to providing the best life for every child and youth we care for,” said Alex Munter, CHEO’s President and CEO. “Despite the on-going worldwide pandemic and the enormous challenges we have faced, being named a top employer is a reminder about just how deeply the work we do to help kids and families inspires us every day, no matter what is happening around us."
First published in 2006, the National Capital Region's Top Employers is an annual competition organized by the editors of Canada's Top 100 Employers. CHEO has made the list since 2012 by offering a supportive environment for staff and their families, including competitive salaries, and maternity and paternity leave top-up payments. In the last two years, CHEO has adapted to meet the changing and evolving needs of our team, brought on by the pandemic. For example, we have offered work-from-home options, free parking, vaccination clinics for staff and their family members, and drive-up COVID-19 testing to name a few.
CHEO regularly surveys staff and medical staff, and uses the results and feedback to help make CHEO an engaging and rewarding place to work. Our latest survey results indicated 90% of CHEO team members are proud to tell others they work for CHEO.
Of 50 workplaces recognized in the National Capital Region this year, CHEO is one of only four health-care organizations to make the list.
In past years, CHEO has been recognized as Canada’s #1 health care employer by Forbes Canada Best Employers. CHEO has also been named among the top pediatric hospitals in the world by Newsweek, been one of Canada’s 10 Most Admired Corporate Cultures and recognized by Canada’s Healthy Workplace Month, among many other accolades for our medical and research professionals. The 2020 Faces Magazine recognized Alex Munter as a favourite CEO of the year.
