Ottawa, Ont. - Jan. 17, 2025 – CHEO is announcing a transition in how its School-Based Rehabilitation Services (SBRS) program will be delivered. Effective July 1, 2025, CHEO will bring the program in house and deliver occupational therapy, physiotherapy and speech-language pathology services in publicly funded schools directly, through its Home and Community Care team.
"This change allows us to further integrate SBRS with CHEO's wide range of pediatric programs and oversee the highest quality of care and improved access for families," said Jennifer Proulx, Vice-President, Child Development & Community Services.
CHEO expresses its sincere gratitude to CommuniCare Therapy for their dedicated partnership and the crucial role they have played in delivering SBRS on behalf of CHEO over the past six years. A transition is planned to ensure minimal disruption to services for children and families, and an expanded CHEO team will be in place to support students starting July 1, 2025.
