Kids Come First Care Clinic
The Kids Come First Care Clinic is available for in-person assessment for children and youth with acute illnesses which include a fever, cough, earache, sore throat or runny nose.
The Kids Come First Care Clinic is located at CHEO's main campus, 401 Smyth Road, Ottawa Ontario. The clinic is by appointment only.
Step 1: If you have a family physician, reach out to them first
Your family doctor knows your child and family best, and is best suited to track and support their growth and development. We encourage you to try calling your family physician first. If you don't have one, or aren't able to book in with them, you can book an appointment with the Kids Come First Care Clinic.
Step 2: Make sure you're eligible to come to the Kids Come First Care Clinic
Book an appointment with the Kids Come First Care Clinic if:
-
your child or youth is older than 2 months
-
your child or youth's illness is new (we aren't set up to see chronic medical conditions or issues that have already been investigated elsewhere)
-
you cannot access an in-person appointment with a primary care provider (family doctor, nurse practitioner, or pediatrician)
Do not book an appointment with the Kids Come First Care Clinic:
- if your child or youth has travelled outside of Canada in the past 2 weeks
-
if you or your child may have (or has been in contact with) chicken pox, measles or tuberculosis (please go to the Emergency Department instead)
-
for injuries
-
for well-baby checks or routine immunizations (visit our Vaccination page for resources to help you stay up-to-date on routine immunizations)
-
for long-term conditions (chronic constipation or abdominal pain, behavioural issues)
-
for medication adjustments or refills
-
for mental health concerns (please visit 1Call1Click.ca instead)
Step 3: Book a new appointment, or adjust an existing one
