Construction begins in CHEO’s visitor Parking Lot A

Starting Wednesday, November 2 and expected to last for 2-3 weeks, construction will be taking place in and around CHEO’s Parking Lot A. Lot A is one of two parking lots designated for patients, families, caregivers and visitors.
During this construction period, we appreciate your patience as we work to improve our facilities and your experience at CHEO. Here is what you can expect over the next couple weeks:

Ottawa, Canada — CHEO, like other pediatric hospitals, continues to be very busy with the onset of an early viral season. (See our October 7 release.)
Our Emergency Department just had its busiest September ever. Kids are coming into Emergency sicker and we are seeing a higher proportion with respiratory viral illnesses. Our inpatient medicine units (where most of the admissions from Emergency go) are consistently running at or above 120% capacity.

CHEO’s energy and carbon reduction efforts garner global recognition

September 26, 2022 — OTTAWA — A global organization that helps health-care facilities reduce their carbon footprints is recognizing CHEO as a Canadian and world leader in ‘going green.’
After reviewing submissions from more than 4,000 health-care facilities around the world – 195 of those in Canada – the International Federation of Healthcare Engineering (IFHE) presented CHEO with a Global Energy Award following a ceremony in Toronto, September 20.
