Meet Sam!
Waiting for an appointment can be boring – luckily CHEO has volunteers like Sam to swoop in and bring some fun and play to kids across CHEO.
Sam is a CHEO volunteer with our Heart Cart program – bringing craft kids, books, and activities to everyone in our waiting rooms – kids waiting for appointments and their siblings too! Sam joined CHEO as a volunteer with our Play program – and when COVID took over, Sam was one of the volunteers who stepped up to help bring some fun back into the building....

Now seven, Vitaly has a seizure disorder that results in him visiting CHEO frequently. “I believe a way for him to cope with his condition is to dance,”...

Taylor is three-year-old Payton Caron’s mom. Their family, including dad, Alan-Michael Caron, and sister Amélie are from Timmins, an eight hour drive northwest of Ottawa.
It is for little girls like Payton and busy parents like Taylor that two CHEO staff worked to improve care for kids with complex airways. Karen Perreault...
Celebrating International Women's Day

Monday, March 8 is International Women's Day — a global day to "celebrate women's achievements, raise awareness against bias and take action for equality." It's also a time to commit to acting, thinking and being gender inclusive in all that we do at CHEO.
With COVID-19, our annual in-person meet-and-greet had to be put on pause. While our celebration this year looks a little bit different, we still want to give our staff, children, youth, families and community members the opportunity to get...
